The Istanbul Technical University Control and Automation Club (OTOKON), established in 2004, has been serving all ITU students, especially those from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Club members, with a sense of responsibility inherent in studying at a technical university, continue their work as the future bright engineers.
One of the prominent events organized by the ITU Control and Automation Club is the Istanbul Technical University Robot Olympics (ITURO). The 16th edition of ITURO, scheduled for this year, brings together robotics enthusiasts, hosts numerous participants and spectators, and receives significant media attention.The ITU Control and Automation Club was one of the organizers of the Automatic Control National Conference held by the Automatic Control Turkish National Committee (TOK) in 2008. In 2010, the club was also among the organizers of the IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics (ICM) and received a success plaque from IEEE. In 2011, the ITU Culture and Art Union (KSB) selected the club as the club of the year and awarded it a special prize.
The ITU Control and Automation Club provides future engineering candidates with the opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into practice through the laboratory facilities provided by the Control and Automation Engineering Department of the ITU Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Another important goal for our club is to encourage university students to engage in social interactions. The club organizes social activities at regular intervals to ensure unity among its members. Participating in these events allows members to gain leadership experience and enhance their personal skills.
The Purpose of the Organization
The ITU Robot Olympics provides new perspectives in the field of robotics, addressing the existing gaps in our country and creating undeniable value. By bringing together the creative minds, which are the most important strength of Turkey, through unique scientific activities such as competitions, seminars, and panels in the ITU Robot Olympics since 2007, we have ignited a spark for "Turkey: The Country of Future Technology." Our goals in organizing the ITU Robot Olympics start with introducing developments in the field of robotics and its application areas to participants and supporting students at all levels with conferences and discussions held in the field of robotics. Bringing together people working in the field of robotics from Turkey and worldwide by participating in the competitions. Ensuring support for scientific studies conducted by university and high school students in Turkey and providing opportunities for evaluation. Creating opportunities throughout and after the organization to produce concrete solutions to problems in a productive environment. Showcasing the knowledge and dedication of our university students in this field to international students, academics, and companies and setting an example for other university students in our country. By making ITURO 2024 an international competition in Istanbul, where Asia and Europe meet, turning our city, the cradle of culture and art, into the heart of technology. Significant steps have been taken to continue the momentum created in the ITU Robot Olympics until 2024. In ITURO 2024, we are getting one step closer to our goals and moving towards reaching them.
Our mission is to bring together students, especially those in the Control and Automation Engineering program, within the Electrical-Electronics Faculty to interact and share with each other, collaborate on creative projects, and develop themselves to become valuable individuals in their profession.
Our vision is to train engineers with the technical capacity, ethical values, and R&D awareness needed for the system, in line with industrial development, primarily in Turkey and globally. In light of the defined mission and vision, education, conferences, and seminars are conducted, trips are organized, technical projects are implemented, and large-scale events are arranged.
